Filk songs about SPACE TRAVEL?
What filk songs or filk CDs do you know or have written that are about SPACE TRAVEL? Here are a few resources and songs to help get the list started, but will be relying heavily on the filk community to contribute to this directory.Over time, I'm hoping to cover as many of the popular filk song topics as possible.

You can post your answer directly into the FilkFAQ page for this question, or post it below.

Thanks for your help in making the Dandelion Report FilkFAQ a useful resource for the filking community! You can find the full list of FilkFAQ questions here.

I'm not even going to attempt to answer this for anyone except myself right now; there are way too many space songs. Anyway, I've written

I Blame You
Sea of Fire
Star Song

specifically about space travel or wanting to go out into space.

I wrote

Bardic Corps
The Ensign's Song
Red Roses
Starshine and Moondust

which all are about people who are travelling in space. (It was unclear from your request whether you just want songs that are about modern thoughts on space travel (e.g., why don't we go out into space?), or whether SF/F songs about space travellers were okay. So I gave you both but split them! *grin*)

Lord, there must be tons. My own contributions to the topic are:

Once We Were Eagles

Coldsleep Lullaby

Spaceship Yourself

Columbia Won't Be Coming Home Today

There's also Joe Haldeman's "The Ballad of Orbital Hubris", Bob Kanfesky's "Making Love Weighing Nothing At All", Bill Roper's "New Frontier". Probably lots more - there were all the entries into FKO 11's Song Writing Contest, "Mars and Beyond", of which "Eagles" and "New Frontier" were entries.

Bill and Gretchen's "New Frontier", actually, and since it was Gretchen's idea... :)

(Credit where due and all that.)

Jordin Kare's "Fire in the Sky" sums up the topic well.

My (silly) contribution to the topic is "Who Brought the Durian Onto the Spaceship?"

Good heaven's there's about a billion. A very incomplete list:

My own: "The Seven", ttto "Heart of the Appaloosa", tribute to Columbia, which I've just realized I don't have a link to on my own site.

Echo's Children ([info]cflute and [info]catsittingstill):
Columbia
High Frontier
Outward Bound
Via Astra
Wings of Human Knowledge

Blake Hodgetts ([info]mrlogic):
Creatures like Us
Barnardsed
Boundless?

Duane Elms, "We're Going Back"

And of course, Leslie Fish, "Hope Eyrie"

I seem to remember Dawson's Christian done marvelously by Duane Elms and Carmen Miranda's Ghost by Leslie Fish as being about space travel ...
