Filk songs about SPECIFIC CONVENTIONS?
What filk songs do you know or have written that are about SPECIFIC CONVENTIONS? I will be relying heavily on the filk community to contribute to this directory. Over time, I'm hoping to cover as many of the popular filk song topics as possible.

I'll start the list off with one of my own....

SONGS:
Home to FilKONtario by Debbie Ridpath Ohi

Well, there's:

The Title Will Follow by Bill Roper and Clif Flynt about FilkCon I.
Marcon Ballroom by Anne Passovoy.

The Great Consuite Migration by Mark Bernstein, in honor of a GaFilk (2003), might be one, if there is music put to it.

Spacing the title, but isn't there one that ends with Heather Alexander singer March of Cambreath in the lobby as the cops walk-in.

That would be Jeff & Maia Bohnhoff, "Filk in the Lobby" (ttto "Smoke on the Water"). I'm blanking for sure on which con it's about but I think it was an OVFF, where the hotel reneged on their deal, claiming that the music was too loud. Also mentions Steve MacDonald ([info]tarkrai) and possibly a couple of others.

Yes, it was OVFF, whichever year Heather was a guest. The problem was actually that the hotel had new management who didn't understand that a "room block" needed to mean physical location of rooms, not just guaranteeing rooms somewhere in the hotel, and put some mundane right next to the filk room. The mundane called the cops.

OVFF moved to a different hotel the next year.

Gafilk 1:

A Con Spent In A Circle isn't about a specific filkcon, but it was inspired by Gafilk 1:

Although I didn't attend Consonance in 2001, this filk of mine is based on [info]filkerdave's con report:

I'm surprised there's no song about the tail end of Musicon 5 -- the one where everyone was snowed in. (And if there is, I don't know about it.)

Isn't there one about the Cook Country (Kentucky) basketball players that shared hotel space with one of the cons there?

And I've been working on one about Marcon.

There is, actually. Scott Snyder wrote it. I think it's the Sled Dog Song?

That's the "CLAY County Basketball Berserkers", by Lee Billings
Roberta Rogow did one about the Scottish Worldcon, title approximately "The Bonnie Bonnie Worldcon"
there are a pair of Disastercon songs, about the Chicago and New York (ESPECIALLY the New York) Star Trek conventions early in the history of the Dorsai Irregulars/Klingon Diplomatic Corps. Titles elude me, but [info]scs_11 should know them.

"False Alarms at Baycon" (ttto "Hotel California"), by Bob Kanefsky. Tony Fabris has an mp3 of himself singing this one (with the background story) available on his website (with permission).

Joe Bethancourt has one called "The Filk was Great at This Year's Westercon".

John C. Bunnell wrote "Con-Geld" (ttto "Dane-Geld") about an incident at Orycon a couple of years ago.

I think my only entry in the field would be the once-performed, FilKONtario, to the tune of Ookla's "Home". It also contains a number of specific filker references, so might qualify in the next category, as well.

A couple more songs inspired by specific conventions:

Bouncing Potatoes (Poul Anderson) was inspired by a well-known Westercon in San Diego.

The Ballad of the Three Fans was inspired by a Westercon in Los Angeles. (Someone else might recall the year -- possibly 1980.) For what it's worth, what happened to the three fans was real, but what they did later was imagined.
